You may have heard of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) —
but big changes are coming.

Be part of a public conversation happening across Saskatchewan this May 11-16.

Most Canadians think Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)
is only for end-of-life situations. ‍It isn’t.

In 2027, people whose only underlying condition is mental illness may be eligible for MAiD.

Join us for a province-wide informational tour in Saskatchewan from
May 11–16, 2026

MAiD for You? Canada’s MAiD Expansion to Mental Illness tour offers a space to understand what’s changing in Canada’s MAiD law— and what it could mean for patients, families, and communities.

There is no cost to attend and all are welcome.

  • Since its legalization in 2016, more than 100,000 Canadians have died through MAiD. What was originally intended for those with a terminal illness and a reasonably foreseeable death has expanded to include individuals living with chronic conditions and disabilities, and is scheduled to expand again in 2027 to include mental illness.

You’ll hear stories and perspectives from healthcare settings that help bring context to how these policies are being experienced on the ground by patients, providers, and families.

  • As eligibility continues to expand, important questions are being raised across Canada. This evening will explore key considerations around safeguards, vulnerable people, mental health, and the broader impact on our healthcare system and society.

The goal is not to overwhelm, but to help you better understand the complexity of what is changing.

  • At the heart of this conversation is care. Together, we will reflect on how individuals, families, communities, and professionals can respond to suffering with compassion, dignity, and meaningful support. This includes looking at practical ways to walk alongside those facing illness, mental health challenges, or deep distress.
